Dr. Bowman is an experienced educator who holds a Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership from Spalding University. Dr. Bowman holds a Master of Arts Degree in teaching from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and a Master of Social Work Degree from University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in English from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Dr. Bowman taught at all levels of instruction in Detroit Public Schools (primarily middle school). As such, she has successfully confronted many challenges in the areas of classroom management and student discipline within a large urban context. In addition, Dr. Bowman has taught at the university level and served as an assistant principal in Detroit, Michigan. She was the founder and principal of Hope Baptist Academy, a private elementary school in Louisville. Dr. Bowman served as a professor of English at Jefferson Community College in Louisville, Kentucky. She served as a professor of Education at Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky and a professor of Education at Indiana University Southeast in New Albany, Indiana. She currently is a professor of Communication/English at University of Kentucky. Dr. Bowman’s dissertation was entitled Discipline Strategies from Successful Teachers of African American Adolescents. Dr. Bowman can be described as a goal-oriented, purpose driven person. She seeks to motivate men and women to pursue their goals and encourages them to reach their unlimited potential.
